Beauty in real sense of the terms means being not only looking good or having striking features but also means a sense of being a person with having a good personality in combination with nature. We say beauty and brains go hand in hand. Beauty is like a pleasant sun smiling all day long spreading light on the earth through its powerful rays.
Beauty is the phenomenon of the experience of pleasure, through the perception of balance and proportion of stimulus. It involves the cognition of a balanced form and structure that elicits attraction and appeal towards a person, animal, inanimate object, scene, music, idea, etc. Understanding the nature and meaning of beauty is one of the key themes in the philosophical discipline known as aesthetics. It is well known that peoples skills develop and change their sense of beauty. Carpenters may view an out-of-true building as ugly, and many master carpenters can see out-of-true angles as small as half a degree. Many musicians can likewise hear as dissonant a tone thats high or low by as little as two percent of the distance to the next note. Most people have similar aesthetics about the work or hobbies theyve mastered. Beauty is something that we recognize instinctively. A baby of three months will smile longer at a face judged by adults to be attractive. Such beauty signals health and fertility. Long lustrous hair has always been a sign of good health; mascara makes eyes look bigger and younger; blusher and red lipstick mimic signs of sexual arousal. Whatever the culture, relatively light and flawless skin is seen as a testament to both youth and health: partly because skin permanently darkens after pregnancy; partly because light skin makes it harder to hide illness. This has spawned a huge range of creams to treat skin in various ways.
According to Emily Dickinson Beauty means,
"The Definition of Beauty is
That Definition is none --
Of Heaven, easing Analysis,
Since Heaven and He are one."
Beauty is a word just like any the word. Looking it up in Websters II New Riverside Dictionary it means "A quality or combination of qualities that delights the senses or appeals to the mind." Nice words. When it comes to defining beauty one might envision that famous model walking down a catwalk with a frown on her face and a some fancy designer clothes on her back. Or maybe that guy in the latest action movie shirt-less that just takes your breath away, making your heart pound in your chest. Handsome equals Beauty just depending on the person thinking about it. Still, what is the meaning of beauty? (Dont bother looking it up again.) The missing questions to think about when ask what defines Beauty? How about a womans joyful smile lighting up her face with the thought that finally, she is pregnant? Or how about children seeing snow for the first time, ever? Or rain needed to save a crop to a farmer? Or even Snowcapped Mountains at sunset to a skier, or dew on a rose at first morning light to a gardener? How about the eyes filled with tears of the woman you just asked to marry you , again after 25 years?
How about love? Beauty is so many things to so many people who are all so different. The Dictionary left out a few words when it defined Beauty. It left out "what appeals to the heart". The next time you might be asked if something is beautiful, ask yourself, does it appeal to my heart? If it does, you just defined beauty.
